World Freedom Day
Every year on November 9, we honor the night the wall came down and freedom walked through. World Freedom Day commemorates the fall of the Berlin Wall in 1989, the moment that opened Eastern and Central Europe to liberty. It is a day to remember the courage of those who stood up to tyranny, and the work that still lies ahead.

3 ways to celebrate
Tell the Story at Home
Watch footage of November 9, 1989 with your family, or read Reagan's Brandenburg Gate address together. Stories of freedom's victory are the best inheritance we can pass down.
Stand With Those Still Fighting
Learn about an organization that defends free expression or supports those living under oppression, and consider volunteering or giving. Freedom defended anywhere is freedom strengthened everywhere.
Teach the Next Generation
Ask a teacher to spend ten minutes on the fall of the Berlin Wall, or share a short account of it at work. A freedom that is remembered is a freedom that is guarded.
Plan ahead
