World Pangolin Day
Every year on the third Saturday of February, the world's most charming little armored oddball gets its moment in the sun. World Pangolin Day, celebrated since 2012, shines a light on the pangolin, the only mammal covered in scales and, sadly, the most heavily trafficked mammal on Earth.
- Roots
- Created in 2012 by wildlife advocates, including conservationist Rhishja Cota, to raise awareness of pangolin trafficking; conservation groups such as Save Pangolins carry it forward

3 ways to celebrate
Post a Pangolin Fact
Pick your favorite pangolin fact and share it on social media with #WorldPangolinDay. One surprising post, like the keratin-scale fact, can turn a scroller into a supporter.
Visit a Pangolin Program
Check whether a nearby zoo or wildlife center is hosting a World Pangolin Day talk or feeding, and bring friends. If none is close, watch a pangolin documentary together and quiz each other afterward.
Fund the Fight
Donate to a pangolin conservation group such as Save Pangolins, or organize a classroom or workplace fundraiser. Even a small bake sale can fund real anti-poaching work.
