World Lemur Day

Every year on October 30, Madagascar's most famous residents get a global standing ovation. World Lemur Day falls on the last Friday of October, right at the heart of the World Lemur Festival. Zoos, schools, and conservation groups around the planet celebrate the primates found nowhere else on Earth.

AT THE ZOO

Visit the lemur exhibit

Spend real time at your local zoo's lemur exhibit and catch any special World Lemur Day programming, from keeper talks to trivia games. Watch the ring-tails sun themselves and read up on each species' conservation status.

AT HOME

Go lemur for Halloween

Since the day lands the night before Halloween in 2026, dress as a ring-tailed lemur, carve a lemur jack-o-lantern, or print free lemur masks and coloring sheets, then watch Madagascar and see who knows the most real lemur facts.

IN THE COMMUNITY

Adopt a cause for lemurs
