National Crossing Guard Day
Every year on January 28, the first smile a child sees on the way to school gets the honor it deserves. National Crossing Guard Day asks all of us to stop, look both ways at our own habits, and say thank you to the guardians of the crosswalk who stand between our children and danger every school day.

3 ways to celebrate
Thank Your Guard In Person
Stop at your local crosswalk and offer a warm greeting, a high-five, or a simple thank you to the crossing guard on duty. A thermal travel mug of hot coffee or a pair of hand-warmers on a cold January morning says their work is seen.
Notes From the Class
Encourage a school or student council to have kids write handmade thank-you notes or hang banners at crosswalks. Let the children tell their guard what the daily walk to school means to them.
Pledge to Slow Down
Drivers can pledge to eliminate distractions, obey school zone speed limits, and strictly follow crossing guard signals. Share the pledge on social media with #NationalCrossingGuardDay to spread the message.
