The observance was established in 2015 by Allied Universal to recognize security officers and raise awareness about their role. With over 1 million individuals employed in the security sector across the United States, this week provides an opportunity to acknowledge their dedication and service.

Security officers are often the first responders in emergencies, trained to handle various situations, from minor incidents to major crises. Many security professionals come from military or law enforcement backgrounds, bringing valuable skills and experience that contribute to community safety. Their presence fosters a sense of security, allowing citizens to go about their daily lives with confidence.

During this week, communities are encouraged to express their gratitude through local events, social media campaigns, and personal gestures. By shining a light on these unsung heroes, we not only honor their contributions but also strengthen the bond between security officers and the communities they protect.
