Super Bowl Sunday

This year on February 14, Super Bowl Sunday shares the date with Valentine's Day, as Super Bowl LXI kicks off at SoFi Stadium in Inglewood, California. It is the championship game of the 2026 NFL season, best enjoyed with snacks, commercials, and a house full of opinions.

3 ways to celebrate

WITH FRIENDS

Host the Watch Party

Super Bowl Sunday is built for a crowd, whoever ends up playing. Stock the snacks, set up the big screen, and let everyone pick a side before kickoff.

AT HOME

Play the Valentine's Angle

This is the first Super Bowl ever played on Valentine's Day. Split the difference with roses beside the nachos and a toast at halftime.

ON TV

Watch the Broadcast Debut

The game airs nationally on ABC, produced by ESPN for the first time, and it also streams on Disney Plus. It is ABC's first Super Bowl since 2006, so even the broadcast is a piece of history.

Plan ahead

Super Bowl Sunday is observed on February 14 every year. Here is where it lands for the next ten years, handy for planners, marketers and party people.

The story

Super Bowl LXI, the 61st Super Bowl and the championship game of the 2026 NFL season, will be played on February 14, 2027 at SoFi Stadium in Inglewood, California. The Los Angeles Super Bowl Host Committee officially received the handoff for the game on February 9, 2026, confirming the Super Bowl returns to SoFi Stadium five years after Super Bowl LVI.

SoFi Stadium has hosted this party before. Super Bowl LVI in 2022 was the first at the venue, when the Los Angeles Rams beat the Cincinnati Bengals 23 to 20 on their home field. Super Bowl LXI will be the ninth Super Bowl hosted by the greater Los Angeles region and the second at SoFi Stadium.

This game also owns two firsts on the calendar. It will be the first Super Bowl ever played on Valentine's Day, and the first played on Presidents Day weekend, which means the celebration runs straight into a holiday Monday.

There is a nice symmetry in the host city, too. Sixty years earlier, Los Angeles helped make history when Super Bowl I was played at the Los Angeles Memorial Coliseum in 1967. This time the game will be televised nationally by ABC and produced by ESPN for the first time; it is ABC's first Super Bowl since Super Bowl XL in 2006, and it will also stream on Disney Plus.
