World Osteoporosis Day
Every year on October 20, even a simple sneeze or a small fall can become life changing when bones are fragile. World Osteoporosis Day is the annual high point of a year-long global campaign organized by the International Osteoporosis Foundation. It calls on health professionals, policymakers, and families everywhere to take bone health seriously, so fewer people suffer painful and preventable fractures.

3 ways to celebrate
Schedule a bone density check
Ask your doctor about a bone density test, especially if osteoporosis or frequent fractures run in your family, since early detection opens the door to effective treatment.
Pass along a bone-health fact
Share one fact about osteoporosis with friends, such as the one-in-three-women statistic, and encourage everyone to learn the signs of fractures in the spine and hips.
Bring bone health to work
Invite a local clinician to give a short lunch talk on calcium, vitamin D, and fall prevention, or share International Osteoporosis Foundation campaign materials with your team.
