National Slam the Scam Day
Every year on March 11, 2027, scammers get put on blast and knowledge becomes your best defense. National Slam the Scam Day is the Social Security Administration's yearly call to arms against government imposter scams, the fake calls, texts, and emails from crooks pretending to be federal officials. It lands on the Thursday of National Consumer Protection Week, and it is equal parts awareness campaign and empowerment rally.

- Created in 2020 by the SSA Office of the Inspector General; Inspector General Gail S. Ennis designated the first day on March 5, 2020

3 ways to celebrate
Host a Scam-Spotting Sit-Down
Gather the family and read the SSA's red-flag list out loud, then role-play a scam call with a willing relative playing the pushy caller. Practicing the hang-up makes the real thing easy.
Flood Your Feed With #SlamTheScam
Share one red flag each on social media using #SlamTheScam, and tag a friend who always forwards warnings. A single post can reach the one person a scammer was about to call.
Bring the Lesson to Your Community
Ask your library, senior center, or place of worship to host a scam-awareness talk, and print the SSA's free Scam Alert fact sheets to hand out. Protecting one neighbor often protects the whole block.
