The debilitating effects of these diseases are little known, yet their impact is largely and silently felt. Pain is a prominent feature, and it limits work, movement, and quality of life. Arthritis is not only a condition of older people: children and teenagers live with it too, and early diagnosis with timely treatment changes outcomes.

Each year's observance carries a theme of hope, from 'It's in your hands, take action' to the power of dreams that inspire people living with these diseases to move forward. The day reminds patients, caregivers, families, and the public that awareness, exercise, and community support keep people going.
